Biography

Multi-award winning musician, composer academic and arts leader.

Kathryn is a unique, interdisciplinary academic with a creative practice in folk music and theatre. She has recently completed a Marie Sklodowska-Curie Fellowship at Newcastle University in the UK, researching A Performance History of Morris Dancing. This research has followed on from a PhD at the University of Sydney, where she researched the musical culture of traditional festivals in the British Isles and their representation in Shakespeare’s theatre.

Kathryn icomposes and performs live music with Matriark Theatre, a company she co-founded in 2014. She is also the producer of The Bard Band, a historical folk ensemble based on Gadigal country in Sydney, Australia and Talon, a folk dance group in the UK.

Kathryn is passionate about sustainability in arts practice, and volunteers on the boards of several organisations in Australia.
